WRONG WRONG WRONG

A QUARTER OF THE OIL SPILL IS 1.225m barrels so you need to multiply by 4

Also your sums are wrong:-

1,225,000 (1.225m) multiplied by 158.9873 is 194,759,443 (194 million etc etc) litres

that would be x4 so lets call it 800,000,000 litres, roughly what I had before, we'll call it 80,000 cubic metres for the sake of arguement

On your calculation of volume and area you would get 800000 / 3,141,174,000 =0.0003m i.e .3 of a mm

1 barrel = 158.9873 litres
quarter of oil spilled (1.225m barrels) = 194,759,442,500 litres = 194,759,442.5 cubic metres

England + Wales = 120,395,000m2 + 20,779,000m2 = 3,141,174,000m2

194,759,442.5 / 3,141,174,000 = 0.062m

The numbers are way out. Total oil is 200 million gallons, thats 900 million litres. A litre being 10cm x 10 cm x 10cm would mean that there are 900,000 cubic meters. Cube root of 900,000 is 96m, so a cube roughly 100m x 100m x 100m. Either the amount of oil is massively under estimated or someone is being over zealous with their comparisons....

Saw Toy Story 3 in 3D yesterday - and saw Avatar before that. Probably won't be seeing another 3D again. Unless you script and shoot deliberately for 3D, the disadvantages (heavy glasses, headaches, post-film disorientation etc) outweigh the effects. A thumbs down from this family.

Saw it today. Amazing. Astronauts, stars, galaxies literally hanging in front of your face.
During the fly-through to the Orion Nebula I nearly had heart failure.
